There are just a few days to go until the start of the 53rd Nerja International Music and Dance Festival. From the 17th to the 22nd July – this year there festival lasts a little longer – the famous Nerja Caves will be the setting for an amazing selection of music and dance performances: Ballet, flamenco, classical music, opera…each evening offers a different genre and style.
Nerja Music and Dance Festival – Programme of Events
Tuesday 17th July: Performance by the Salzburg Soloist Orchestra which will be playing music by Britten, Milhaud, Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla.
Wednesday 18th July: Flamenco dancer Antonio ‘El Pipa’ takes to the stage. For this festival he’ll be accompanied by a special set prepared by María Dolores Greco, prima ballerina with the Spanish National Ballet.
Thursday 19th July: Concert by the Baroque Orchestra of Seville who will be accompanied on stage by soprano María Espada; the conductor will be Argentine violinist Pablo Valetti.
Friday 20th July: En evening of ballet with soloists and duos from the main Russian ballet companies (Bolshoi, Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky fromSt Petersburg.)
Saturday 21st July: Spanish singer Pasion Vega takes to the stage accompanied by Jacob Sureda on the piano. She’ll be performing many of her hit songs as well as presenting her new album ‘Sin Compasión’.
Sunday 22nd July: The last day of the festival is reserved for the performance by ‘Els Comediants’, probably one of Spain’s most famous and renowned theatre companies.
This year buying tickets for the Nerja Music Festival will be a lot easier as they are available for sale online at www.cuevasdenerja.es. Another great advantage is that you’ll be able to print out the entrance tickets on your home printer, thereby avoiding having to pick them up at the ticket office. 🙂
Prices this year have been lowered and range from €25 for the cheapest tickets to €40 for the most expensive.
So how do you get to Nerja from Sunset Beach Club? It’s really quite easy, just head towards Malaga and then take the motorway (autovía) towards Almería/Nerja. In little over an hour, you’ll be enjoying some wonderful performances in a truly unique setting.
