Benalmadena Council and the Association of Local Businesses (ACEB) will launch a new initiative at the end of the month, one that fits in perfectly with their ‘Benalmádena, Ciudad Saludable’ (Healthy City) programme: The ‘Ruta de la Tapa Saludable’ (Healthy Tapas Route).
From the 28th January to the 5th February, the first ever Healthy Tapas Route will allow locals and visitors to enjoy the very best of Mediterranean cuisine… in tapas!
According to the mayor, the initiative’s main goal is to promote our famous Mediterranean diet, encourage the practice of healthy habits – such as walking and enjoying social interactions – as well as help push local business and boost tourism in Benalmadena.
This new ‘Tapas Route’ is open to all bars and restaurants based in Benalmadena; however, they only have until the 20th January to sign up.
All participating establishments will have to prepare a balanced and health tapa using all the wonderful and fresh local ingredients, the staple of the Mediterranean diet. Each one of these tapas will be priced at just €2 and includes a drink.
However, mouth watering food isn’t the only ‘star’ of the Healthy Tapas Route. Promoting walking as the most healthy, natural and ecological way to get around the city is also one of the main objectives of this initiative. The organisers are trying to encourage all participants to walk their way around the tapas route.
All who wish to take part in the Healthy Tapas Route and sample the delicious food on offer can use the special ‘passports’ (available at all participating establishments). In them, you’ll find a small map featuring all the bars and restaurants you can visit during the route. It’s like a treasure map guiding you to the hidden treasures of Benalmadena’s best cuisine!
Participating establishments will also compete to win three prizes, including the most voted tapa – which people will vote for online.
