The city of Málaga is preparing to host the 38th edition of its International Jazz Festival from the 2nd to the 9th November 2024 with a fantastic lineup to delight Jazz lovers!
This year’s programme stands out for the quality of musicians taking to the stage of the Cervantes Theatre. You’ll be able to enjoy the music of artists such as Fred Hersch, Elaine Elias, Chief Adjuah, Egberto Gismonti, Christian McBride and Pat Metheny.

All official concerts will take place in the Cervantes Theatre.

Saturday 2nd November – Fred Hersch
Making his debut at the Malaga International Jazz Festival, fifteen-times Grammy nominee Fred Hersch will treat the audience to his ingenious melodic ability and his capacity for improvisation on the piano in the presentation of Silent, Listening, his latest album.
Sunday 3rd November – Benavent / Di Geraldo / Pardo – El concerto de Málaga
The trio formed by Carles Benavent (electric bass guitar), Tino di Geraldo (drums) and Jorge Pardo (saxophone and flute) will be performing pieces from the three albums they have released since their famous El Concierto de Sevilla, 25 years ago.
Monday 4th November – The Golden Age of Spanish Jazz
Ten of the best musicians of the current jazz scene from all over Spain will give new shape to their own compositions in a special performance coordinated by Málaga pianist, Jose Carra.

Tuesday 5th November – Eliane Elias
Brazilian pianist and singer, Eliane Elias, returns to the Málaga Jazz Festival after her impressive performance in 2017. Her skill for improvisation and exquisite technique full of emotional and lyrical content (and incorporating Brazilian themes), means that her fans are in for a magical evening.
Wednesday 6th November – Chief Adjuah
The musician previously known as Christian Scott, Chief Adjuah, visits Malaga to present his new album in which he synthesises West African traditions with his avant-garde approach to jazz. On this occasion he’ll be performing with a handful of self-made instruments, including ‘Chief Adjuah’s Bow’ that combines the African n’goni and kora with the European harp.
Thursday 7th November – Egberto Gismonti
Brazilian guitar and piano virtuoso, Egberto Gismonti, brings to the stage of the Cervantes Theatre his unique work that sits at the crossroads of Brazilian folk tradition and classical music.
Friday 8th November – Christian McBride – Remembering Ray Brown with Benny Green and Greg Hutchinson
Christian McBride, a bassist, double bassist, composer, producer, big band director and arranger is one of the leading jazzmen of his generation. On this visit to Málaga he pays tribute to his idol and mentor Ray Brown, performing on stage with pianist Benny Green and drummer Greg Hutchinson.
Saturday 9th November – Pat Metheny
With 20 Grammy Awards to his name, Pat Metheny brings his jazz-rock fusion to the Malaga Jazz Festival. He´ll offer an intimate concert in which he’ll play more than a dozen guitars, performing previous compositions as well as pieces from his most recent albums, Dream Box and MoonDial.
This year’s festival will also bring free live jazz concerts to different locations throughout the city (squares, bars, restaurants, and hotels). The exact programme is yet to be confirmed but we’ll post it as soon as we have the details.
