For the last two years, Sunset Beach Club hotel – and guests who visit – have been actively supporting three children’s charities: The Butterfly Children Charity (Debra Spain) which helps children with EB, a condition which makes skin as fragile as a butterfly wing; Make-a-Wish Spain which grants magical wishes to children fighting life threatening medical conditions and Barretstown, a unique camp that provides medically endorsed residential programmes of therapeutic recreation for children with cancer and other serious illnesses.
Through an initiate called ‘Sunset Breaks’ the hotel has managed to raise thousands of euros. Mark Wardell, the hotel’s General Manager, commented “Our job is to provide an enjoyable experience in a fun and safe environment. One could say we are in the ‘dream’ business’; the business of creating special memories. Our ‘Sunset Breaks’ initiative was started two years ago so that, together with the help of our generous guests, we could collect funds which go towards creating special memories for children who are battling serious illness”.
Last Friday the 8th April, 2016, the hotel together with two of the Coast’s top entertainers, Ricky Lavazza and Johnny G, hosted a fantastic concert for the above charities in their Moonlight Theatre. The ‘Concert for the Kids’ attracted hundreds of local residents and hotel guests who turned up to watch the fun show.
Through the entrance fee (10€) and the sale of raffle tickets during the show, the event managed to raise 2697.63€ which added to the 4438.60€ obtained from guest contributions and the 3000€ donated by Sunset Beach Club an amazing 10,136.23€ was raised.
This money will be divided equally amongst the 3 charities and contribute to creating special memories for children who are battling serious illnesses.
From Sunset Beach Club we’d like to thank everyone who made this possible, especially our kind and generous guests who donated money, the Sunset Beach Club animation team who have been actively involved in this project. A special thanks must go to Ricky, Johnny and their lovely wives who worked so hard to make our ‘Concert for the Kids’ an astounding success!
