Malaga Gastronomy FestivalFrom the 6th May to the 9th June, the city of Málaga will host Andalucia’s most important gastronomic event: Malaga Gastronomy Festival.

This will be the 6th edition of this festival which is a strategic project for the city of Málaga, its province and Andalucía. The objective of making the city a gastronomic reference is slowly becoming a reality with yearly growth in terms of content for the festival and the level of chefs taking part.

Visitors will be able to enjoy debates, food tasting, movies, photographic exhibitions, workshops, show cooking and lots more. It’s a festival which serves as a showcase to the areas gastronomic heritage and culture attracting food lovers of all ages and with varied tastes.

The undisputed star of the festival, and the foundation of the area’s gastronomy is the fresh produce and ingredients sourced locally and used to cook amazing dishes you’ll have the opportunity of tasting when you visit the festival. Exotic fresh fruits and vegetables such as Mangos and avocados from the Axarquía area of Málaga; the fresh seafood the Coast is famous for; the bread, cheeses and exquisite virgin olive oil, and of course, Malaga’s spectacular wines, are all ingredients which will feature in the dishes prepared by participating chefs.

A Taste of Jaén

This year, the festival features the province of Jaén as the featured destination. Various activities have been planned in Plaza de la Marina, including:

  • Workshops – An introduction to Jaén’s Virgin Olive Oil
  • Show cooking mixing the best dishes and food from Málaga and Jaén
  • Masterclass featuring Jaén’s Game meats and wines
  • Jaén wine and cheese tasting
  • Popular food tasting where chefs and producers from Jaén will prepare food for 1000 people to promote one of their most popular dishes: Segueño Lamb
  • Live music
  • And lots more…

Show Cooking

During the festival, you’ll be able to enjoy amazing show cooking demonstrations from top local chefs as well as chefs from Jaén, the rest of Spain and Andalusia. Antonio Afaro Guerrero, Abilio Arteaga, Pedro Sánchez (1 Michelin Star) and Juan Carlos Trujillo and just some of the top chefs taking part.

La Marina Street Food

Perhaps one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the festival is the start of La Marina Street Food, a gastronomic space located in the ‘Plaza la Marina’, just next to the port. From the 6th to the 9th June, Chefs from Málaga, Andalucía and all over Spain will become the stars of the show with live cooking shows and tastings for all who wish to sample their mouth-watering masterpieces.

Once again the Plaza de la Marina is set to become a treat for the senses where all the family can enjoy the wide selection of activities taking place, including Cocktail making, product presentations, workshops for kids and adults, photography activities, and live music!
