Benalmadena to Launch Foreign Tourist Attention Centre to Help Victims of Crime

Foreign Tourist Attention CentreAccording to the Spanish Secretary of State for Security, less than one out of every thousand tourists who visit Spain are victims of crime; a low figure which contributes to Spain’s popularity as a safe and popular holiday destination. 

That being said, this low crime doesn’t console the unlucky few who do fall victim to petty thieves who take advantage of occasional lapses.

These unfortunate incidences usually mean having to go to the police and file a report,  phone banks to cancel credit cards and contact local consulates or embassies to report stolen passports. This could mean hours spent at the local police station without a qualified translator and valuable holiday time wasted.  (more…)

St. Patricks Day Celebrations in Benalmadena & Sunset Beach Club… 2014 Edition!

St Patricks Day 2014 at Sunset Beach ClubIn just under a week, green will be the prominent colour here at Sunset Beach Club as we prepare to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! As many of you know, we’re an Irish owned company so this is a big day on our events calendar. 

We recommend our guests start off the festivities by heading up to Arroyo de la Miel for the traditional Parade organised by the Irish Association and which takes place every year through the streets of the town. It all starts at 12.15 pm with mass in the Virgen del Carmen Church followed by the parade down to the Paloma Park fair ground where the ‘Party in the Park’ takes place. (more…)

Gordon Ramsay Heads Back to the Costa del Sol for New Show

Gordon Ramsay Costa del NightmaresFans of fiery TV Chef, Gordon Ramsay, will be delighted to know that he will be returning to the Costa del Sol for a new television series entitled Costa del Nightmares! 

This is Ramsay’s second visit to the Costa del Sol. In 2007 he filmed an episode at ‘La Parra de Burriana’ in Nerja and although he helped turn the business around, the restaurant has since closed down.  (more…)

A few weeks ago I spotted an interesting photo on a friend’s Facebook page; she was petting a lion cub!!! Turns out the picture was taken at ‘Zoo de Castellar’ a very special place which serves as a rescue centre for all sorts of animals. 

Started as a private animal sanctuary way back in 1998, it actually opened to the public in 2002; this has to be one of the Coast’s best kept secrets!

Of course, with two young children, we had to go and see what all the fuss was about. After a quick check on Google Maps, we prepared a pack lunch and set off, for what turned out to be, an amazing family day out. (more…)
