Euro 2012 kicks off tomorrow – 8th June – with the inaugural match between Poland and Greece at 6pm.
We know that many of our guests are ‘football mad’ and won’t want to miss any of the big games – especially the ones involving their national squad – so we’ll be showing comprehensive coverage of most games.
Most of the Euro 2012 games will be shown on the screens in the Panorama Bar; however, the big games involving Spain, Ireland and England (Most of our guests hail from these countries) will be shown on the fantastic 6 square metre screen in our Moonlight Theatre!
Here’s a list of the games we’ll be showing in the Moonlight: (more…)

The Alcazaba as night falls...
Anyone visiting the Costa del Sol from the 6th to 10th June (2012) will have the opportunity to take part in a unique and special experience: A night tour of Málaga’s famous Alcazaba fortress.
For those of you who are not familiar with this emblematic monument in Málaga’s city centre: The Alcazaba is a Moorish fortification which was built in the 11th century. This impressive structure is built on hill in the centre of the city and comprises two walled enclosures; the first is built around the topography of the hill and the second wall – located within the perimeter of the first – is dotted with defensive towers. The beautiful gardens and magnificent enclosures make this one of the most popular tourist attractions in Málaga. (more…)

Getting rid of the red palm weevil...
The management at Sunset Beach Club has set itself the task of turning our hotel into a property which respects the environment and its surroundings; a specific and detailed environmental policy will allow us to become a ‘green’ hotel. To help us with this challenging task, we have partnered with local company, Biogrove.
With offices in Arroyo dela Miel, Biogrove specialises in preventative and healing treatments for the elimination of plagues and diseases in trees and plants. They also offer guidance in issues relating to the management of soil fertility, help in choosing what species to plant and with everything relating to the creation and maintenance of all green areas within the hotel.
These are some of the initiatives we are undertaking at the moment, initiatives that will allow us to reach our goal of becoming a ‘green’ hotel: (more…)

Try scanning this QR Code and see where it takes you...
If you’ve walked around any of Benalmádena’s most popular tourist attractions lately, you may have come across some strange looking barcodes located in special frames and posted in visible areas; these are the new QR Codes (Quick Response) which the town hall will be using to provide tourists and visitors with detailed information about the town’s attractions.
For those of you who are less familiar with the latest technological gadgets and technologies, I’ll quickly explain what a QR Code is and how it works.
QR Codes are a type of barcode which, when placed at specific tourist attractions, allows visitors to access immediate information about them (opening times, historical info, photos, etc) by pointing their smart-phone at the QR Code. A special scanner within the phone – which you can download for free – reads the code and automatically sends you to a website featuring the tourist attraction in question.
The following attractions around Benalmadena have QR Codes which you can scan during your visit: Selwo Marina, Tivoli World, Sea Life, BenalmadenaButterflyPark, La Niñade Benalmádena Statue, Puerto Marina, the Casa dela Cultura, Castillo de Colomares, the Pre-Columbian Museum, PalomaPark, Santa Ana Beach and Bil-Bil Castle. There are plans to install more QR Codes in the near future.
We’re so inspired by this initiative that we’re already planning to start using QR Codes around Sunset Beach Club. Keep your smart phones loaded 🙂
