On our latest travels exploring the Costa del Sol, we came across a real hidden gem! It goes by many names, but the oldest one you’ll hear is “Cueva del Higuerón,” although nowadays we know it as “La Cueva del Tesoro” (The Treasure Cave).
The most incredible part? It’s one of only three caves of marine origin in the entire world! Yep, you heard that right, one in Asia, one in Central America, and the last one on the European continent is just a half-hour’s drive from Sunset Beach Club.
This Friday the 23rd June, the beaches of Benalmádena – and many other Spanish towns and cities – will come alive to celebrate the Night of San Juan.
This not-to-be-missed date on the local festivities calendar coincides (nearly…) with the summer solstice; the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of summer!
Are you looking for a list of fun things to do the next time you visit Benalmadena?
Well, you’ve come to the right place. There are loads of things to do and fun attractions to visit when you come to spend your holidays in Benalmadena. We’ve put together an A to Z list with 26 ideas to get you started…
A – Aqualand
Have a splashing time at the Costa del Sol’s biggest water park. The kids will love it…and so will the adults. There are plenty of fun rides to keep the whole family entertained for hours!

B –Butterfly Park
Visit Europe’s largest Butterfly exhibition where you’ll be able to see more than 150 species of butterflies. You can read more about the Benalmadena Butterfly Park on our blog.
C – Cable Car Ride to the Top of Benalmadena
If you don’t mind heights, this is a definite must! A 15-minute ride to the top of the Calamorro Mountain behind Benalmadena for some of the most amazing views. Make sure you also watch the amazing birds of prey show!
Benalmádena Marina is getting ready to host another edition of a popular gastronomic event… the Food Truck Experience. It’s the fifth time this unique culinary experience – which is having great success in other towns and cities – is celebrated here.
Making your way around all the museums, galleries and other “must-see” tourist attractions which the Costa del Sol’s capital has to offer can get rather expensive. But don’t worry. Malaga town hall offers a ‘Malaga Pass Card’ which helps tourists gain access to the city’s best attractions and monuments.
We’re going to tell you all about this nifty little card called a ‘Malaga Pass’ which will come in handy if you’re planning on visiting many of the city’s museums and attractions.
The Costa del Sol is known for its wide choice of street markets – or flea markets, as they are sometimes referred to. As visiting these markets seems to be on most of our guest’s to-do lists, we thought we’d put together a short and concise guide featuring the most popular markets along the coast (You’ll find a link to download a printable version at the end of this post).
Many of the local street markets combine flea markets and boot sales, so for the sake of this guide, we’ll just refer to all as street markets. Although we haven’t included all the markets which take place throughout the week, we have tried to add all the ones that we’ve actually been to and that our guests have recommended.
