The city of Malaga is famous for its extensive cultural attractions, and in particular, for its intriguing collection of museums.
The Picasso and Thyssen Museums are, perhaps, the most well known; however, hidden in the back streets of the cities historic centre, we can find real treasures such as the Museum of Glass and Cristaland the Dolls House Museum. The latter is a recent discovery which we want to tell you about in this post.
Located in Calle Alamos (nº32) in the cities historic centre, this small museum allows visitors to enter the beautiful world of miniatures which in some cases date back several centuries. (more…)
A few days ago one of our colleagues from the commercial department, Inma, visited a unique and somewhat different Christmas nativity scene in Malaga… one made of plasticine!
The cultural department of Malaga’s town hall is exhibiting this nativity scene – created by the Educa Foundation – over the Christmas period. This wonderful 40 square metre exhibition is made up of more than 200 figures made of plasticine. Apparently they needed 35 kilos of plasticine and three months of hard word to put this masterpiece together.
As you can see in the photos, the attention to detail is unbelievable and certainly breaks the molds of the more traditional Nativity scenes! (more…)
For those of you who haven’t visited the Luna Mora Festival in Guaro, we thought we’d post a few photos of this fantastic event held every September in this beautiful Andalusian village.
If you are ever on the Costa del Sol for a holiday during the month of September, we highly recommend you take a drive up to Guaro during their Luna Mora Festival, a unique event featuring the best of andalusian culture.
A big thank you to our colleagues Wendy and Claire for letting us use the lovely photos they took at this year’s Luna Mora Festival 🙂
If you’re a nature lover and enjoy a little peace and tranquillity (at least once in a while) during your holidays, we highly recommend you visit the ‘La Concepcion’ Botanical Gardens in Malaga.
Located just north of the city centre, these vast and spectacular gardens are now part of the ‘Ciudad de Malaga’ (Malaga City) Municipal Botanical Trust.
A walk through its colourful gardens will allow you to enjoy an exquisite collection of plants and flora from all over the world. (more…)
The town of Ronda is located approximately45 km inland and is undoubtedly one of the most popular and spectacular destinations for tourists who visit the Costa del Sol.
Ronda has much to offer; however, in this post we’ll feature two of its most famous landmarks: The spectacular Gorge and the fabulous Bullring.
As you drive into the town, you’ll make your way over the ‘Puente Nuevo’ (NewBridge) which stretches over the famous Ronda Gorge. Over100 metres deep and 500 metres in length, The Gorge was formed by the Guadalevin river which winds its way through its deep walls.
The Gorge was once the historical divide which separated the old and the new quarters of Ronda. In 1751, architect Jose Martín de Aldehuela began an engineering feat which would take over 40 years to complete and become the iconic monument which today offers stunning panoramic views of Ronda and its surroundings. Apparently, all of the stone blocks used to build the impressive structure were sourced from the river bed at the bottom of the Gorge. (more…)
