An amazing Sunset at Muelle Uno in Malaga
A visit to Málaga’s city centre is a ‘must do’ for anyone visiting the Costa del Sol for a holiday. You’ll want to do the whole cultural tour of the city taking in its famous museums and iconic landmarks such as the Cathedral or the Alcazaba; however, there’s a new attraction in town and it’s well worth a visit: Muelle Uno (Pier One).
This new (relatively) waterfront shopping centre is probably one of my favourite stops when I wonder in to Málaga city centre. With spectacular modern architecture and a fantastic selection of shops and restaurants, Muelle Uno provides the perfect setting for a family outing.
Málaga’s newest attraction is ideally split into 3 different areas: Services and accessories, fashion and restaurants. Another great advantage is that the complex offers a large underground parking area which means you won’t have to tackle the Málaga traffic for too long 🙂 (more…)

Many of our hotel guests are often on the lookout for new and exciting activities and attractions when they come and stay with us. One of the most popular attractions is the Selwo Aventura wildlife park. I actually visited the park with my family recently so, for the benefit of those of you who have yet to visit this amazing location, here’s an account of our fun day at Selwo Aventura.
Located in the hills near the coastal town of Estepona, Selwo Aventura is approximately one hour’s drive from Sunset Beach Club. Although it might seem a little far to some, it’s well worth the drive!
Parking is easy as there is a large area just in front of the main entrance to the park. Once you’ve collected your entrance tickets it’s time to experience the magic! The park is split into four main areas or routes for you to visit, so I’ll give you a brief summary of what you will find in each and give you a few tips as to things you’ll want to see 🙂 (more…)

Júzcar, a traditional white village situated near the famous town of Ronda, has been chosen by Sony Pictures as the setting for the premiere of their new film “The Smurfs 3D” this Thursday 16th June.
This wont be your run-of-the-mill premiere, Sony’s PR experts have come up with an innovative idea to gain publicity for the launch: Paint the whole town blue! No kidding, they have managed to convince the town’s inhabitants to paint their houses “smurf” blue…
A team of 20 painters – 11 of which are villagers who were unemployed – has been hard at work painting every single building in the village (See photo).
So why did Sony choose this small – previously – white village in the hills near Ronda for their world premiere? Apart from the incredible climate, it seems that Júzcar is also popular for its promotion of sustainable tourism; they have special walking routes and also organise mycological events and, as we all know, mushrooms are the Smurfs favourite food 🙂
All the media exposure has had a very positive effect on the village’s coffers as tourists flock to take pictures of the famous Smurf Village. Business is booming, so much so, that they are considering keeping their new colour indefinitely!
For the moment, they have voted to remain “Smurf” Blue until September, at which point they will review the situation and decide on whether to paint all buildings white again – incidentally, the cost of painting the village white will be taken care of by Sony as part of the agreement.
So if you’re planning on visiting Ronda this summer, make sure you pop into Júzcar. Apparently, the village will be organising a special “Smurf Tour” which will include a free hat and t-shirt… think about it, you’ll be able to tell all your friends that you visited the original Smurf Village and you’ll have the t-shirt to prove it!

As from tomorrow (Friday 25th March) Benalmadena will be the home of the largest butterfly park in Europe. This new 2000 square metre installation had been built to resemble a traditional Thai building and will prove to be a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike.
This unique initiative has been backed by the Benalmadena Town Hall which has provided the plot on which the park has been built; this initiative will only help to strengthen Benalmadena’s position as the Costa del Sol’s leading resort for family holidays.
The Butterfly Park’s main building includes a glassed tropical garden which has a surface area of over 900 square metres and is 8 metres high; this is where visitors can experience the beauty of more than 1500 exotic butterflies in full flight. (more…)
