The Alcazaba in Málaga Opens for Night Tours from 6th to 10th June

Alcazaba de Malaga

The Alcazaba as night falls...

Anyone visiting the Costa del Sol from the 6th to 10th June (2012) will have the opportunity to take part in a unique and special experience: A night tour of Málaga’s famous Alcazaba fortress.

For those of you who are not familiar with this emblematic monument in Málaga’s city centre: The Alcazaba is a Moorish fortification which was built in the 11th century. This impressive structure is built on hill in the centre of the city and comprises two walled enclosures; the first is built around the topography of the hill and the second wall – located within the perimeter of the first – is dotted with defensive towers. The beautiful gardens and magnificent enclosures make this one of the most popular tourist attractions in Málaga. (more…)

Selwo Aventura: A True Wildlife Adventure for all the Family

Cheetah at Selwo Aventura

Many of our hotel guests are often on the lookout for new and exciting activities and attractions when they come and stay with us. One of the most popular attractions is the Selwo Aventura wildlife park. I actually visited the park with my family recently so, for the benefit of those of you who have yet to visit this amazing location, here’s an account of our fun day at Selwo Aventura.

Located in the hills near the coastal town of Estepona, Selwo Aventura is approximately one hour’s drive from Sunset Beach Club. Although it might seem a little far to some, it’s well worth the drive!

Parking is easy as there is a large area just in front of the main entrance to the park. Once you’ve collected your entrance tickets it’s time to experience the magic! The park is split into four main areas or routes for you to visit, so I’ll give you a brief summary of what you will find in each and give you a few tips as to things you’ll want to see 🙂 (more…)

Jump on the 120 Bus for a Value-for-Money Day Out!

Benalmadena Bus route nº120

Reading through our latest reviews on Tripadvisor, I came across a very complementary comment by a guest who recently stayed with us at Sunset Beach Club.

Apart from his very kind words praising our facilities and friendly staff (thank you!), this guest also reminded me of our hotel’s fantastic location as a base to explore other areas and towns on the Costa del Sol. In particular, he made reference to the bus stop just outside the hotel and the fantastic nº120 bus! Yes, we have taxis outside the hotel, but the beauty the 120 bus is that it only costs €1.50 per trip 🙂 (more…)

Cable Car Ride to the Top of Benalmádena: An Exciting (albeit hair-raising) Family Day Out

Benalmadena Cable Car Views

The Views towards Málaga from the top of Benalmadena

Now, I have to admit that I am not fond of heights; actually, I’m terrified of them. So when my wife suggested we take our twin daughters on a cable car ride to the top of Calamorro Mountain behind Benalmádena, you can imagine my reaction!

We always try and make the most of our weekends together and take the girls on little “adventures” and as the weather was gorgeous, I – reluctantly – agreed to give it a go.

Working at Sunset Beach Club, I’ve often spoken to guests and colleagues who raved about their trip up to the top of Benalmádena on the cable car; this was the perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss was about.

The cable car sets off from Tivoli World (it’s actually just beside it). Pricing might seem a little steep, especially if there are 4 of you; however, it’s well worth it! These are the rates: (more…)
