Flamenco Week in BenalmadenaBenalmadena is getting ready to host one of the most important cultural events of its yearly calendar: Flamenco Week. Playing a key role in the promotion of the town’s Flamenco culture, the event has become one of the main tributes to this universal art in the province of Malaga. 

Flamenco Week takes place from the 14th to 21st November in various different cultural and educational centres of Benalmadena. Organised by Malaga’s ‘Peña La Repompa’ in collaboration with Benalmadena Council’s Cultural Department, the main aim of the event is to pay tribute to the art of Flamenco, coinciding with the celebration, on the 16th November, of the anniversary of Flamenco being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.  (more…)

Mijas Celebrates its ‘Tourist Day’ with Flamenco & Free Wine!

The Summer Season is almost at an end and the small village of Mijas wants to celebrate in style by organising a large party in honour of the thousands of tourist who have visited them throughout the year; it’s their particular way of saying thank you!

Mijas’ Tourist Day – a celebration which has been going for more than 10 years – will take place next Wednesday 17th September from midday in the town’s ‘Virgen de la Peña’ square. The town hall has prepared lots of fun activities to thank their visitors for their loyalty, including two fantastic flamenco shows by Flamenco Group ‘Jaleo’ and the ‘Zambra’ Spanish Ballet.

All that singing, dancing and music wouldn’t be the same without some tasty thrist quenching  wine. And that’s just what the organisers have arranged… lots of free wine will be served to visitors throughout the afternoon!

Guaro Celebrates the 18th Edition of its ‘Luna Mora’ Festival

The white village of Guaro is set to become the focal point of Andalusi music and culture over the next two weekends (5th & 6th September and 12th & 13th September) with the celebration of the 18th edition if its ‘Luna Mora’ Festival. 

Once again, the streets of Guaro will glow to the light of 25,000 candles distributed throughout the town creating a mysterious and magical ambience. One of the festivals main attractions is the Arab Market which will open daily on the streets if the town centre. The market stalls will be filled with hand made products such as gifts, leather goods and delicious food! (more…)

Why You Need to Visit the 2014 Malaga Fair

Poster for Malaga Fair 2014It’s one of the Costa del Sol’s biggest and most popular events, and it starts this Friday (15th August)… the Malaga Fair (or ‘Feria’ as it is called in Spanish). 

Eight days – and nights – of complete madness where visitors will be treated to the best of Ansalucian culture and traditions. The Malaga Fair has something for everyone: Culture, Great food (and drink!), dancing, live music, entertainment, to name but a few.

This year, there will more than 200 free shows providing over 200 hours of fun and entertainment for all who attend. Benalmadena Marina Hosts 2nd Edition of its Great Beer Festival

Benalmadena Beer Festival 2014This Thursday the 24th July sees the start of the 2nd edition of Benalmadena’s Great Beer Festival. Once again, this fun event takes place in the Marina and will be open to the public until Sunday the 3rd August. 

All visitors to the Beer Festival will have the opportunity to sample the best wheat and barley beer (König Ludwid Weissbier) as well as taste some traditional German dishes including: red and white sausages, roast pork knuckles, pretzels, sauerkraut or flamenkuchen (german pizza). (more…)

Mijas Hosts it´s First Luna Mora Festival: From 18th to 20th July

Luna Mora MijasFrom the 18th to 20th July, the streets of the historic centre of Mijas will host the Luna Mora Festival, a unique event which will light up the picturesque town with 5000 candles! 

This is the first time this famous festival – which has been held for the last 18 years in different towns throughout the province of Málaga – is being held in Mijas. Coinciding with the 28th edition of the ‘Villa de Mijas’ theatre festival, visitors to the town will be be treated to a spectacular cultural experience.

The organisers have put together a superb programme of events and activities including: Street performers, Moorish market, dance workshops, musical performances, theatre and lots more!  (more…)
