Mijas Gets Ready for the 7th Edition of its Popular Blues Festival

Mijas Blues Festival 2013The usually quiet and tranquil white village of Mijas is about to get a little noisier… but it’s a good kind of noise: The Mijas Blues Festival!

For the 7th year running (from the 5th to 7th July) this fantastic festival, organised by ‘Aint Nothin’ But…’ and the Mijas Town Hall Foreigner’s Department, will once again provide 3 days of the best Blues music; and all for FREE!

This year the whole festival will be held in the main ‘Plaza’ and visitors will also be able to enjoy lots of delicious food and drink in the many bars and restaurants surrounding the square (that part isn’t free though ;-))  (more…)

The Top Concerts on the Costa del Sol this Summer (2013)

As we approach the busy summer season, we’ve decided to put together our – now regular – list of the top concerts on the Costa del Sol for this summer 2013. There are some fantastic musicians and entertainers performing live at various venues along the Coast; however, this year, one event stands out from the rest: The Starlite Festival in Marbella.

After the success of last year’s series of concerts in the concert arena located in the Nagueles quarry, the organisers have lined up an even more impressive list of top international and Spanish artists including Julio Iglesias, Jamie Cullum, Bryan Adams, Paco de Lucía, UB40 and Alejandro Sanz. 25th Edition of the International Festival in Mijas: 7th, 8th & 9th June 2013

The beautiful white village of Mijas is getting ready for another edition of its International Festival; however, this one is special as it is the 25th anniversary.

Organised by the foreigners department of Mijas Town Hall, this fun 3 day event is a must-see for anyone visiting the Costa del Sol next weekend. More than 20 countries and nationalities take part in this festival which includes music, dancing, delicious foods from all over the world, street performers, giant BBQ’s, handcrafted goods, special performaces (see below) and general all round fun! Tapas with a Touch of Magic: The New Gastronomic Route in Arroyo de la Miel

Tapas con Magia in Arroyo de la MielNext Friday the 24th May sees the start of a new gastronomic route in Arroyo dela Miel: ‘Tapas with Magic’.

For those of you unfamiliar with these gastronomic tapas routes, they are initiatives organised by the local town hall to promote local businesses and encourage local residents and visitors to visit the town centre to enjoy some of the great restaurants and bars.

This first edition of this new tapas route will be held from the 24th May to the 2nd June and, as the name states, has the novelty of including magic shows as part of the experience (Only at weekends).

Approximately twenty bars and restaurants will take part in the event, each offering their very own and unique tapas dish to all visitors; for the – very reasonable – price of €2, you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious tapa and a refreshment (soft drink, beer or glass of wine).  (more…)

Malaga Clasica: A Festival of Classical Music

The city of Malaga looks set to continue with its impressive cultural programme by introducing a new initiative which aims to join music, talent and youth in an international classical music festival. Named ‘Malaga Clasica’, this new event will take place between the 20th and 26th May on the stages of the ‘Sala Cristina’ and the Cervantes and Echagaray theatres.

This new festival will be organised and managed by one the Málaga’s great classical musical prodigies, Jesus Reina, and by his partner Anna Nilsen, also an accomplished violinist.  (more…)

This coming weekend sees the return of the extremely popular Over 50’s Show. After 5 successful years being held in Estepona, the show now has an impressive new venue: The Mijas Racecourse.

The Over 50’s Show is based on a formula which has been very successful in Dublin and Belfast (we regularly attend these events with our own stand) and has proved extremely successful in attracting a large and loyal following.
