Tom Jones Concert in Marbella

Tom Jones Concert in MarbellaAfter weeks of rumours and speculation, it’s now a done deal… Tom Jones will be performing live at the Puente Romano Tennis Club inMarbellaon Thursday the 18th August!

I’m sure many ladies (and gentlemen), up and down the Coast, will be delighted at the chance to see the one and only Tom Jones live in concert. The beauty of the venue is that it is relatively small – not like those massive football stadiums – so the concert will be more of an “intimate” affair; fans are practically guaranteed a good view of the man himself!

With his powerful voice and trademark moves, the talented Sir Tom Jones (Yes, he was knighted in 2006) is sure to put on an amazing show. Expect to hear all his classic hits such as “It’s not Unusual”, “Delilah”, “Kiss” or “Sex Bomb” as well as songs from his latest album, “Praise & Blame”.

It’s not a cheap concert: Tickets start at 90€ and go up to 250€; however, being in Marbella, in the height of the summer, I don’t think they’ll have too much trouble filling the place up 😉 If you’re interested in attending one of the concerts of the summer, you can buy tickets at the El Corte Inglés stores or online at www.ticketmaster.es .

Doors open at 8:00pm and the concert starts at 10pm. I recommend you get there with plenty of time to spare as parking could be tricky…

Local Festivities in Benalmádena Pueblo

Benalmadena Village fairIt’s definitely a busy week as far as fairs and local festivities are concerned! In a previous post we mentioned the Málaga Fair which starts this weekend and today we’re letting you know about the fair in Benalmadena Village which kicks off tomorrow (11th August).

Nowhere near as busy – or chaotic – as the Málaga fair, this local fair is more of a low key affair and a great option for those looking to experience a traditional local fair for the first time.

As is typical in most local festivities, the fair is split into two: A day time version where you can indulge in some great tapas and wines as well as dance to sounds of traditional flamenco music! At night its time for the fun fair where children and adults alike will have a blast on all the rides available!

There will be live music every evening at the main fair ground for those who fancy it and on Monday the 15th August, the town hall has organised its first fancy dress rally where participants have to decorate their cars as extravagantly and originally as possible; the best “design” gets a prize! Should be fun to see how artistic the Benalmádena locals can get 😉

Throughout the 5 days, there will be a number if competitions and tournaments which will allow visitors to the “feria” the chance to win some great prizes, including restaurant meals, toys and other fun gifts.

If you’re staying at Sunset Beach Club, make sure you visit Benalmádena village fair for a taste of the real Spain…and a whole lot of fun too!

Just a friendly reminder that if you are looking for somewhere to stay during “Feria Week”, you can check availability for our hotel at www.sunsetbeachclub.com

The fair officially starts on Friday 12th August at midnight with the “Pregon” (opening speech) which is usually carried out by a famous personality; this year the honour falls on local singing sensation, Pablo Alborán. Jamie Cullum Concert at the Sohail Castle in Fuengirola

Jamie Cullum Concert in FuengirolaWe’re in for a real treat this Thursday evening (4th August) as contemporary Jazz artist, Jamie Cullum, takes to the stage in the amazing setting of Sohail Castle in Fuengirola.

Known for his passionate and energetic live performances, the 31 year old visits the Costa del Sol for what will be his only show in Andalucia (even more of a reason to go!). The foundations of Sohail Castle will be literally shacking as he performs songs from his own albums as well as hits from other famous artists.

Although his music is rooted in Jazz, he delves into a vibrant mix of pop, rock ‘n roll and jazz. He’ll be pounding away at his piano, but if we are lucky, we’ll also be able to sample his talents on the guitar and drums too! An interesting fact: Jamie never works to a set list in his live performances, it’s all improvised! Should make for a very entertaining evening…
