Going on holiday is supposed to be a relaxing experience; however, sometimes we need a little help to switch into relaxation mode.
We’ve certainly got a few suggestions as to how to go about disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of your hectic daily life, but we thought we’d ask our guests (through our Facebook page) for their recommendations on the best activities to relieve stress in Benalmadena. Here’s a great list of options 🙂
#1: A Trip on the Benalmadena Sightseeing Bus
Sharon says she enjoys the ‘hop on, hop off’ sightseeing bus tour that takes you around Benalmadena. She suggests staying on the bus for the first full lap of the tour and just take in the beautiful scenery; you can then decide where you want to get off and continue exploring.
#2: A Gentle stroll down to the Marina
Stephen likes to take a gentle stroll along the promenade all the way to the Marina and recommends stopping off at Café Olé, overlooking the beach, for a quick coffee and brandy. At just €2, it’s definitely stress busting!
#3: Enjoy a Cocktail by the Pool
Janet is a little more traditional and is happy to just lie by the Sunset Beach Club pool sipping on one of the refreshing cocktails available in our pool bar. If you’re not into your cocktails, reading a good book is also very relaxing!
#4: A walk around Paloma Park
We definitely agree with Dermot, a walk around Paloma Park is a great stress reliever. This 200,000 square metre park located in the centre of town has ample green areas and a large lake which make for stunning scenery. We recommend you take a towel or blanket and lie under the shade of one of the many trees throughout the park.
After a relaxing few hours in Paloma Park, Dermot suggest a visit to Selwo Marina to watch the dolphin show.
#5: Take a boat trip from the Marina
Jo likes taking a boat trip from the Marina…
“Even if you do not spot any dolphins, just going out on the boat with a sangria in my hand instantly relaxed me!”
Henrik suggest jumping on the ferry boat that takes you to Fuengirola; you’ll get some great views of Sunset Beach Club and the rest of the coastline! (See photo)
#6: A meal at Luna Beach Club
For Denise, a lunch or dinner at Luna Beach Club is the perfect stress reliever…
“Feel your stress drift away while looking at the fabulous ocean views”
#7: Treat yourself to a facial and massage
Angela from Posh Beauty and Hair says they can put together a lovely stress-reducing facial and back massage package for just €30!!! A great way to start (or end) your holiday. 🙂
(Note: you can find Angela and the Posh team on the first floor of Sunset Beach Club)
#8: Take a Yoga Class
Natalie says that a yoga class on the beach is the perfect solution to your stress problems. For just €4 she recommends you join Migui Hernandez’s class on the beach every Thursday at 5:30pm. (Just in front of Palm 5 bar along the promenade).
#9: Cocktails at Salitos Bar
Emilio recommends a visit to Salitos Bar. Located on the promenade in front of Sunset Beach Club, it’s the perfect place to indulge in one of their famous Mojitos as you watch the spectacular sunsets!
#10: Visit the Butterfly Park
A visit to the Butterfly Park is one of Terence’s favourite activities and watching thousands of colourful butterflies fly around you is certainly a relaxing experience (if you’re not afraid of butterflies!).
And here are a few more tips for reducing stress…
#11: Visit the Stupa Buddhist Temple
This impressive structure is actually the largest Buddhist temple in the western world. It’s so large that it actually has a meditation room inside; perfect to relax and relieve all that accumulated stress! Even if you don’t go inside the temple, the views from up there are simply spectacular and it’s lovely to just sit on the stairs of the temple and enjoy.
#12: The Arab Baths: An Oasis of relaxation
In the centre of town, just 30 minutes walk from the hotel, you’ll find the ‘Agua de Oriente’ Arab Baths, or Hammam. With a selection of pools, massages, Turkish sauna and a relaxation room, stress doesn’t stand a chance!
#13: Take a trip on the cable car to the top of Mount Calamorro
If you don’t mind heights, we highly recommend a trip on the cable car to the top of Mount Calamorro which overlooks Benalmadena. The views are spectacular and you can walk along clearly marked trails which allow you to view the Coast from multiple different angles. Find a quiet spot and sit down to take in the peace and tranquility of this very special place.
14#: Come and stay at Sunset Beach Club!
The above tips are all great but as Jean, a long time guest at Sunset Beach Club, says…
“Everything at Sunset Beach Club is stress free!”
Sitting on the balcony of your comfortable apartment with a nice bottle of Rioja whilst you take in the amazing sea views is probably one of the best stress busters we can recommend! 🙂
