Are you planning on travelling to Benalmadena with a baby?
We’ve put together this list of 7 Tips which includes suggestions to make your holiday less stressful and more enjoyable.
#1. Pack & Travel Light
Just pack the bare essentials. We understand that it can be tempting to pack everything but the kitchen sink, especially when you are first time parents, but believe us, it’ll just make your travels a nightmare.
There’s nothing worse than traipsing through an airport and then trying to board a plane with several bags over your shoulders, a pram and toys whilst trying to cradle your baby. Bear in mind that most of the vital items you’ll need on holiday, nappies and baby food included can be purchased once you arrive in Benalmadena.
At Sunset Beach Club we have an onsite supermarket that stocks nappies and baby food, a pharmacy vending machine where you can buy basic medical supplies and we even have a self-service laundrette so that you can easily wash baby’s clothes if need be (and avoid having to bring dozens of changes of clothes).
#2. Rent a Car or use a Private Transfer
Benalmadena is just a 20-minute drive from the airport – another advantage of holidaying here – and you have various travel options. We recommend you hire a car as you have the option to get a car seat for your baby.
If you’re not planning on doing much driving or don’t fancy the hassle of driving, booking a private transfer is a valid option as you’ll be able to book a car seat too. Regular taxis aren’t required to carry car seats so you’d have to carry your baby in your arms; not a good option.
#3. Hire a Baby Stoller Once You get to Benalmadena
If you want to travel even lighter, you might want to consider leaving your baby stroller at home. Most hotels work with local companies which hire out all types of baby equipment, including strollers.
That’s certainly the case at Sunset Beach Club… just contact our reservations department before arrival or ask at Reception at check-in and we’ll help you book a stroller or any other baby item you may require. If you book direct through us, you’re entitled to a Free Baby Pack which includes a cot, baby bouncer and bottle warmer!
#4. Ask your hotel about Baby Sitting Services
Whilst you’re on holiday with your baby, you may fancy a ‘date night’ with your partner. We know that some people might not be comfortable with this, but it’s great to have the option!
At Sunset Beach Club we have lots of guests with young babies who use our babysitting service so that they can pop out for a quick meal or drink whilst the little one is fast asleep in the room and being looked after by a babysitter. If you’re interested in booking this service, you just have to ask at reception when you check-in.
#5. Find out where Local Doctors or Hospitals are (Just in case)
The probabilities of you needing a doctor during your holiday are small, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Whilst there are plenty of local clinics and hospitals in the Benalmadena area, at Sunset Beach Club we actually have a doctor’s surgery on the 1st floor of the hotel. The doctor visits every day at 11.30 am and you can just pop in to see him if you have any questions or queries. We also have an agreement with the Vithas Xanit Hospital which is just 5 minutes away by car, should you need more urgent treatment.
#6. Book accommodation that caters to families with babies
Not all hotels cater to families with babies so it’s important to do your due diligence before booking. We’ll save you the trouble. At Sunset Beach Club you and your baby can enjoy…
- Free Baby Pack when you book direct with the hotel (includes baby cot(with linen), bottle warmer & baby bouncer
- Apartment-style accommodation with kitchen facilities (Fridge, oven, microwave and more!)

- Outdoor Children’t play area

#7. Make the most of the stunning promenade and baby-friendly local attractions
Benalmadena boasts a stunning – and relatively flat – promenade that runs from one end of the resort to the other. It’s perfect for a gentle family stroll whilst taking in the stunning beach and sea views!
If you choose to stay at Sunset Beach Club we recommend walking down to the world-famous Marina. It’ll take you about half an hour but it’s well worth it! You’ll find lots of bars and restaurants with large terraces overlooking the boats and there are plenty of shops and stalls if you fancy a little shopping.
If your babies are a little older, they might enjoy a visit Sealife Aquarium which is located in the Marina.
Another baby-friendly attraction you will want to visit is Paloma Park. It boasts more than 100,000 m2 of green areas, kids playgrounds, an artificial lake – where you can feed the fish and the turtles – and lots of animals roaming freely through the park.
So there you have it… our list of 7 top tips if you’re travelling to Benalmadena with a baby. We hope you find them useful and don’t forget to check on the Sunset Beach Club website for more information about our baby-friendly holidays.
