Last week the Mayor of Benalmadena, Paloma García Gálvez, was in Fitur travel fair last week to promote our beautiful municipality and to receive an important award: The ‘Q’ for Quality awarded to all the city’s urban beaches.
This highly regarded distinction has actually been visible on Benalmadena beaches since the summer; last weeks presentation just made the award official!
The beaches included in the award comprise all located on the stretch of coast which goes from Fuente de la Salud Beach all the way to the beach at Sunset Beach Club.
This is the first time Benalmadena receives this award and certifies the cleanliness of the water and sand on the beaches, the quality of leisure services available on each, control of the beach bars as well as hygienic conditions of the beaches and their installations.
This certification, awarded by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) and backed by the Secretary of State for Tourism serves as recognition for the great work carried out by Benalmadena City Council to improve the quality of our beaches and reinforces our position as a top European holiday destination.
During the presentation ceremony the mayor also made reference to the fact that this certification is a prestigious and trustworthy brand name, with a solid position in Spain and abroad; yet another reason to celebrate as it will help add value to Benalmadena’s tourist industry.
Obtaining the ‘Q’ for Quality certification requires a strict audit process carried out by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) which performs a series of inspections and evaluates the quality systems in the public services to determine that Benalmadena’s Beaches comply with the stringent guidelines and parameters dictated by national and environmental regulations.
So next time you’re enjoying some rest and relaxation on one of Benalmadena’s beaches, remember… they’ve been certified ‘Q’ for Quality!
