(more…)Benalmadena Town Hall’s department for Environment, Parks and Gardens will organize the 15th edition of the Collector’s Plant Fair to be held on the weekend of April 15 to April 17 in the Parque de la Paloma.
This stunning park with more than 100,000 m2 of green areas is the ideal place to celebrate this new edition of the Plant Fair which returns after a two-year absence due to the pandemic. Paloma Park is home to an impressive collection of palm trees (with more than 90 species), Bamboo, Aquatic plants and one of the best and most spectacular open-air collections of Cacti and other Succulents in Europe (6000 m2 of surface area).

On these rare rainy days, we often get guests asking for tips and ideas on what to do on a wet day. Thankfully Benalmadena is not all about sun, sea and beaches; there are plenty of interesting places to visit and things to do…Here’s a list of 11 ideas to keep you busy in Benalmadena (and the surrounding area) when it rains.
#1: Visit the Marina
Jump on the bus (nº110 or 120) or grab a taxi (Both stop just outside the hotel) and head down to the Marina. You’ll find lots of great restaurants to enjoy a lovely lunch and can also visit the popular Sea Life Aquarium with its fascinating range of sea creatures including sharks, stingrays and a giant Pacific octopus. It’s a question we get asked daily: What’s the easiest way to get to the hotel from Málaga airport? Well, for all those of you who have yet to visit Sunset Beach Club and would like to know all the travel options open to you, here’s a list of 5 different methods of transport.
This is probably the most popular, convenient and fast way to get to Sunset Beach Club from Málaga airport. The taxi rank is located just outside the main arrivals hall and – with the exception of the busy summer months – you won’t have to wait to jump in a taxi which will bring you straight to the hotel.
The journey lasts approximately 20 minutes and the fair should be between €27 and €30 one way. If you have lots of luggage or are travelling late at night or on public holidays there may be an additional surcharge fee, but this should not be too significant. (more…)
The ‘Castillo de Colomares’ (Colomares Castle) in Benalmadena is one of the most interesting tourist attractions the municipality has to offer. It’s not really a castle, it’s more of a monument which was built between 1987 and 1994 by Esteban Martín MD as a tribute to Christopher Columbus and the discovery of America.
This unique monument unifies various architectural styles which had a marked effect on Spanish culture: Bizantine, Romanesque, Arabic and Gothic.
A walk around the Colomares Castle will allow you to discover various elements from the symbols of the Catholic Kings, from the three cultures present in medieval Spain (Judaism, Christianity and Islamism) and other elements from Christopher Columbus’ epic voyage. (more…)

Forget the stifling heat of summer. Autumn in Benalmádena promises weather that’s still warm enough to enjoy the pool and the beach. Average daily temperatures are in the 20ºC to 25ºC range and there’s plenty of sunshine to work on your tan.
The famous Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande will host the 7th edition of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters (formerly the Andalucia Valderrama Masters) from the 14th to the 17th October 2021. Golf fans are in for an amazing weekend of golf at the club famous for hosting the 1997 Ryder Cup.
This year the Estrella Damm N.A Andalucía Masters will feature an impressive lineup with some of the World’s top golfers headed by Jon Rahm, current world nº1, and the first Spanish winner of the US Open!
Rafa Cabrera Bello, three time winner on the European Tour will also be taking part at Valderrama and the organisers will confirming more top names in the coming weeks (we’ll update this post as soon as we know).
