If you haven’t the faintest idea what we are talking about, be sure to read on as we explain where this bizarre tradition originated and what it actually entails.

Although many believe the tradition of eating the 12 lucky grapes at midnight on New Year’s Eve originated in 1909 due to a bumper crop of white grapes in the Almeria, Murcia and Alicante regions, it appears that this might not be entirely correct. (more…)

Arroyo de la Miel is getting ready to celebrate the 37th edition of its famous ‘Carrera Urbana del Pavo’ (Urban Turkey Race) which will take place on Sunday the 15th December, 2019.

The excellent quality of our waters and the nutrients they contain make it possible to produce high quality mussels. Since last summer a local company aims to give away the secrets to mussel production through tourist visits, a very interesting activity for tourists who wish to learn about the fishing culture of Malaga and its contribution to the economies of local families.

Benalmádena Gets Ready to Host its 2nd Music Route

Next Saturday the 20th July Benalmadena will host the 2nd edition of an event in which participating businesses, bars and restaurants will host concerts with all different types of music: The Ruta de la Música (Music Route).

This year the organisers will be celebrating two events, one this weekend and the other on the 4th October so that they take place in two different seasons and so that they can see the impact each of these events has on the local economy.

This project is a collaboration between Benalmadena Town Hall’s Youth Department, The local chamber of commerce (ACEB) and Benalmadena´s Association of Musicians. All three have joined forces to once again create a route which will allow visitors to enjoy good music as well as the local shops and businesses. If you are planning on visiting Benalmadena this week (from the 23rd June) there are a couple of events you won’t want to miss: The Night of San Juan and the San Juan Fair in Arroyo de la Miel. 

The Night of San Juan is the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of the summer. All over Spain, people flock to the beaches to enjoy a magical night with bonfires, barbeques, fireworks and lots of food and drink!

Benalmadena is no exception with bonfires being lit all along its beaches. This year, there’s the added attraction of a full piro-musical show (fireworks, music and lasers) which takes place just down the road from the hotel, at the Bil-Bil Castle.  (more…)
