We’re fortunate enough to have one of the first permanent (and covered) ice skating rinks in all of Andalucia. Located in the ‘Club Municipal de Hielo’ in Arroyo de la Miel, this superb facility boasts a 900 square metre ice rink.
If you’re looking for a fun activity for all the family or are visiting Benalmadena during the quieter winter months, a visit to the ice skating rink is the perfect choice for an enjoyable afternoon out.

*Please note that if you’re planning on going ice skating, you are required to wear gloves, socks and long trousers.

Benalmadena is getting ready to host one of the most important cultural events of its yearly calendar: Flamenco Week. Playing a key role in the promotion of the town’s Flamenco culture, the event has become one of the main tributes to this universal art in the province of Malaga.
Flamenco Week takes place from the 14th to 21st November in various different cultural and educational centres of Benalmadena. Organised by Malaga’s ‘Peña La Repompa’ in collaboration with Benalmadena Council’s Cultural Department, the main aim of the event is to pay tribute to the art of Flamenco, coinciding with the celebration, on the 16th November, of the anniversary of Flamenco being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The Mayor of Benalmádena, Paloma García Gálvez, has recently returned from a visit to the World Travel Market in London where she pointed out the strength of our town as a tourist destination, especially in international markets.
The figures don’t lie and Benalmadena can proudly boast a notable increase in the number of foreign visitors who choose its fabulous attractions for their holidays. The year-to-date figures (January to September) show that almost 51,000 more foreign travellers visited the town than in the same period last year; an increase of almost 24 %. It’s worth pointing out that more than 40% of these foreign visitors who travel to Benalmadena every year are British. (more…)
This weekend our Moonlight Bar hosts the 7th edition of Blues at Moonlight, an International Music Festival for lovers of Rockabilly and music with true American roots.
Organised by Active Sound Productions, the event features twenty artists and groups (both national and international) who will take to the stage for a crazy weekend of music and dancing making it one of the most important festivals in this genre’s musical calendar.
This year’s artist list has a strong rockabilly and American music component and features the following musicians and DJ’s from Spain and beyond! (more…)
Costa del Jive is a week-long event for fans of modern jive.
The first edition took place in March of this year and was a resounding success. So much so, that the organisers have arranged the second edition which will take place from the 9th to the 16th November here at Sunset Beach Club.

This Saturday the 1st November (2014), Ricky Lavazza, one of the Costa del Sol’s most popular and highly recognized entertainers (and one of our resident performers) will be taking to the stage in our Moonlight Bar for a fabulous evening of music and entertainment in aid of the Tomas Leighton Care Charity.

Fuengirola is getting ready for the 6th edition of its, now famous, Erotic Tapas Route (Ruta de la Tapa Erótica).
From the 31st October to the 16th November, local residents and visitors to Fuengirola will be able to enjoy one of town’s most popular events of the year and a must-visit for fans of the traditional Spanish tapa!
A hundred bars and restaurants have already signed up for this year’s edition, that’s twenty two more than last year! Of these one hundred businesses, twenty six are taking part for the first time and many are newly opened. There’s no doubt that the popularity and success of the Erotic Tapas Route over the past few years has encouraged these high participation numbers. (more…)
The other day we had the pleasure of meeting Marja Lennes, a Finnish author who has written nine crime/thriller novels. She and her co-author, Pirjo Peltoniemi, actually write under the pen name Kirsi Merimaan and are on the Costa del Sol promoting their latest novel. We ran into Marja in the reception area of the hotel as she was having her photo taken for a local Finnish magazine which is writing a feature about her.(more…)
From the 17th October to 26th October, visitors to Benalmádena Pueblo will be able enjoy a delicious assortment of tapas as the town celebrates its 7th annual Tapas Route.
Twenty of the town’s bars and restaurants will be taking part in this gastronomic event which has become one of the main culinary, cultural and touristic attractions for the town during the lower autumn season.
Residents of Benalmadena and all who visit over the next few days will have the opportunity to taste a wonderful selection of tapas dishes, from the most innovative creations based on local cuisine to more traditional style dishes. (more…)
